Save Our Wall. Save Our Story. Come sign the petition at the Graffiti Lounge on November 21st at 2 PM.

When I look at the photographs from our Graffiti Lounge cyphers, I see people standing together, an emcee holding the microphone, and a wall full of color behind them. I see the reason we built this space: to give our community a place to create, connect, and experience Hip Hop together.

That wall is part of what I’m asking you to help protect.

The Hip Hop Foundation of Philadelphia built the Graffiti Lounge at Container Village to bring Philadelphia graffiti art, Hip Hop events, and cultural education into one community space. The wall holds artwork and tags from Cornbread The Legend and other Philadelphia graffiti artists. Their contributions give us a way to introduce people to the names, styles, and stories behind the art.

For an artist, it can be a place to contribute to the culture. For an emcee, it is part of the environment where the cypher comes together. For a young person, it can open a conversation about Philadelphia’s creative history and their own possibilities.

We Need Your Support

The wall faces proposed removal to make room for a gate. Before any artwork is lost, we want the people making that decision to hear from the community that values it.

We are working with Councilmember Curtis Jones Jr. and our neighbors to bring attention to the wall and the role it plays at the Graffiti Lounge. We are asking for a pause on removal, a conversation that includes the artists and neighborhood, and a solution that preserves the artwork while addressing the site’s access needs.

Your signature can help demonstrate that this wall matters to the people who gather here and to those who believe Philadelphia’s cultural history deserves to be preserved.
