The Illest Indie Hour is an independent Hip Hop radio show broadcasting every Sunday from 10:00 PM to 11:00 PM Eastern Time on 105.1 FM The Beat in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Hosted by Zakariya “T.H.E.” Hardin, Executive Director of The Hip Hop Foundation of Philadelphia, the program gives listeners access to lyrical Hip Hop, emerging artists, respected independent emcees, original storytelling and music that commercial radio often overlooks.
The Illest Indie Hour connects Philadelphia, Atlantic City, South Jersey and the greater independent music community through FM radio, online listening, artist promotion, nonprofit partnerships and community-focused media.

The Illest Indie Hour was created to provide meaningful FM radio exposure for independent artists whose music demonstrates originality, lyrical skill, strong storytelling and respect for Hip Hop culture.
Each broadcast is curated to introduce listeners to emerging and established artists from Philadelphia, New Jersey and communities throughout the independent Hip Hop movement.

The show is more than a weekly playlist. It is a nonprofit-driven media platform designed to help independent artists reach new audiences, strengthen their brands and become connected with radio, live events and community opportunities.
Independent Artists: Submit Your Music for FM Radio Airplay
Are you an independent rapper, emcee, Hip Hop group, producer or recording artist looking for legitimate FM radio exposure?
The Hip Hop Foundation accepts clean, professionally prepared music for consideration on The Illest Indie Hour on 105.1 FM The Beat. Music submissions are reviewed for broadcast quality, originality, lyrical content and compatibility with the program.
Submission does not guarantee airplay. Every track is reviewed according to the show’s editorial standards, available programming space and FCC broadcast requirements.
Music Submission Requirements
Before sending music, artists must:
- Subscribe to The Hip Hop Foundation.
- Submit no more than three songs at one time.
- Send clean, FCC-compliant radio edits with no profanity.
- Submit downloadable MP3 music files.
- Clearly label each file with the artist name and song title.
- Include a short artist biography or Electronic Press Kit.
- Include your city and state.
- Include your website and official social-media links.
- Include current release information.
- Confirm that you own or control the rights to the submitted music.
Do not submit Spotify, YouTube or other streaming links as replacements for downloadable radio files.
