Two Locals Brewery is all about Philly pride and breaking barriers. Founded by two brothers, Richard and Mengistu, they bring their roots and passion to every pint. Mengistu, who came to Philly from Liberia at age 7, and Richard, a Philly native, started their journey with a one-gallon homebrew kit back in 2016. What started as backyard experiments and kitchen creations quickly grew into a city-wide movement. They hit the streets with pop-up tasting events, sharing their brews with everyone—from family to complete strangers—perfecting their craft and gaining respect.

As they dove deeper into the beer game, they noticed something missing: Black representation in the brewing industry. That’s when Two Locals Brewery made it their mission to change the narrative. They’re on track to become Philly’s first Black-owned brewery, paving the way for others and showing the community there’s room for all of us to shine in the craft beer world.
